Thinking Maps

Thinking Maps, first published in 1988, provide a common visual language for students within and across disicplines. Through a series of eight distinct concept maps, students learn to organize their thoughts and become more productive and creative thinkers. These maps include the following:

  • Brace Map (Relating Whole to Parts)

  • Bridge Map (Making Analogies)

  • Bubble Map (Describing)

  • Circle Map (Defining)

  • Double Bubble Map (Comparing and Contrasting)

  • Flow Map (Sequencing)

  • Multi-Flow Map (Identifying Causes and Effects)

  • Tree Map (Classifying)
